Oh Susannah! Friday Finish

Back to back Friday finishes!  Whohoo!  This is the Oh Susannah! Mystery Quilt.  It was a QA at Erik's Homemade.  You can find the info here.

It's a very heavy quilt.  It weighs about seven pounds.  Don't worry about the snow on the quilt on the picture.  It went straight to the washing machine right after the photo shoot.  It would be perfect for a football game when the cold wind is blowing.  The back is made from two flannel sheets that I found at a thrift store.  I also used the same flannel to bind it.  I finished the quilt top the summer of 2011.  I didn't want to quilt it because it was so heavy.  The longarm did the trick.  It is quilted with just wavy lines.  Yesterday while working on the binding in the lazyboy chair this quilt quickly became one of my favorite quilts.  Weighted blankets are used in therapy.  The heavy weight of this blanket made me feel like I was being hugged.  I was so relaxed that I fell asleep.  Here it is:

The strips were easy to cut with my Accuquilt GO! Baby cutter.  Even though they were denim, as long as I didn't put too many in at once it worked pretty slick.  Squares and HST were cut with the GO! too!

I am also linking up with the New Weekend Update at the Block Lotto. You can check out what other talented quilters are working on here.

I'm also excited to hook up to the Friday Finishes at Richard and Tanya Quilts here.

This week's giveaway is sponsored by The Fat Quarter Shop! Wish me luck!

AWESOME :D Yeah, I'd sure not want to heft that through a domestic. If it turns up missing, just come on over to my place. ;D (kidding)

Looks great! I am sure your family will enjoy it for years to come. It must be the time for completing UFOs. I have done several this month.

I came from both those linkys! Your quilt is a wonderful finish! I love the heavy feeling, but I usually have to have 3-4 quilts on the bed to get it. Maybe I'll have to try something like yours.
