WIP Wednesday 4.25.18

It was a busy, quilty week.  I made blocks for the April Block Lotto:

I got a few more stitches done on my crib quilt.  I really like the spring colors for this one.

It was a busy weekend with the Vivian Benton Workshop -- Taking the Fear Out of Curves.  Our local quilt guild also had the Spring Tea the following day.

Here are a few of my blocks that I worked on in class.  I really like the wonky log cabin block and the slightly curved HST.

I need a little work on my Drunkard's path blocks.

The block below is Vivian's Drunkard's path method in which bias binding is inserted.  The block is cut into four pieces and squared up for the Drunkard's path blocks.

Here's her version of the wedding ring block.  She showed us how to use a fusible and turn it.  My circle block was made with two fabrics (sew, slice, turn, and press).  They can be sewn together as in Vivian's table topper below.

Here's Vivian's version of The Dress Collage Pattern by Laura Heiny.  Here quilts were amazing!  I'm sorry I didn't get many pictures.  I've made the decision to no longer be in our local quilt guild due to the fact that it's more important to me to be a mom right now.  I'll still be quilting.  I'll still be longarming quilts for customers.  I will not be attending guild meetings and working on guild quilts.  I will not be working on the guild website or fb page.

Vivian taught us curved blocks such a Drunkard's Path.  Vivian LOVES circles.  She should--she quilts amazing circles.  She showed us different methods to make a circle.  She taught us how to use a fusible to make a double wedding ring quilt.

The raffle quilt with the table with the three ladies selling tickets was donated to our guild this year.

Our guild made five quilts with the challenge blocks submitted.

OMG so many projects. Your first photo caught my eye. I just made a quilt top with that star pattern from a 1996 book and had not seen it anywhere and suddenly BAM there you have it! I like your color choices for that Original Star.
I did freak out at your list. Maybe because some of mine is in my head, while yours is out there for the world to see and be amazed at. I have lots of great ideas, and at the top of the stack today is altering some summer clothes, we have had a heat wave lately and yesterday it was 90°. Keep on sewing! Liking your blog a lot!
